(I was going to do the one where you count off every tenth one, but every tenth one was dull, and I got distracted into shortening my interests list.  Having them chosen randomly is easier.)

1. british humour:
   There's so amazingly much British humour that's like knives - smart, cutting, has a point.  I like knives, too.
2. douglas adams:
   Okay, there's some lame in The Hitchhiker's Guide, but there's so much crack (which should be spelled craic).  And then Dirk Gently!  And that chick in "Long, Dark Teatime of the Soul" kicked ass. 
3. g. manville fenn:
   I'm a dork for listing G. Manville Fenn, because I've never actually read his stuff.  What I've read is the snippets Daegaer posted, and her pastiches.  I tried to read Young Robin Hood and didn't get very far. 
4. hugh laurie:
   I try to resist, but he's got this way of moving, and saying things, and those big blue eyes, and he can jump from 'sweet and dumb' to 'smart and mean' in .23 seconds (you see it in A Bit Of Fry And Laurie).  And then I read the articles about where he's working on "House" and he's such a self-flagellating perfectionist - very familiar. :)
5. lois mcmaster bujold:
   Okay, her characters are over the top - the hunchback dwarf who has the 8-foot horse-faced warrior woman and the hermaphrodite both in love with him.  His mother, who assassinates a guy and casually tosses his head on the council table in a plastic bag - yay Large Caliber Wet Dreams!  I can't resist. 
6. pervy hobbit fanciers:
   Yes I do love the hobbit stories - Merry/Pippin/Frodo/Sam in any combination - but it was just so cool to find there's other people who love the hobbit stories as much as I do.  And, pervy hobbit fanciers tend toward the smart, clever, insightful and delightful.  Or at least one does. ;)
7. redheads:
   I know there's people who don't find redheads attractive, but I have a hard time believing it.  It doesn't matter the gender, show me red hair and I'll look twice. :)
8. shopping for books:
   Yay!  I often feel like wiggling like a puppy-dog when I enter a bookstore.  So many thoughts and feelings, each book a different glimpse into someone else's mind.  And then the information, which can serve as background fodder for me to write from.  It's all yay! :)
9. terry pratchett:
   Yeah, yeah, I know he walks a mile for a pun and telegraphs it a week ahead of time.  But he also does Dwarves better than anybody, and his Elves are EVIL and just the idea of Vampires addicted to coffee or photography is so cute, and Death being a sweetie!  And, and, and!  And references to things I'd never have heard of it I didn't read the L-space archives. 
10. yellow waistcoats:
    Bertie Wooster wore one.  So did Merry Brandybuck.  If that's not good enough I don't know what is.  They just look so spiffing and cheerful.
