About a week ago my wrists started itching, after we'd worked in the potential future garden in the afternoon. Of course we continued to work in the yard every afternoon until Sunday, and every day the itching has gotten worse, and has spread over my entire body, until today I spent some time hanging around the doctor's office hoping to get in. I thought probably poison ivy, since I know you can get that even if it's all dead - the oils still are there in the dead leaves. I don't think I've ever had poison ivy before, that I recall, but there's no reason one can't become allergic later in life. Well. When the doctor mentioned she removed some brambles and there was poison ivy lurking in the middle of them, I said, "Yeah, we were taking out rose bushes-" and she said "Rose bushes! That might be it right there. They have a type of bacteria that often lives on the thorns which can cause that reaction for some people. We basically treat it the same as poison ivy." But she suggested I wipe down the shoes I was wearing that day with alcohol, just in case it really is poison ivy.
Did you know that? I didn't.
Tomorrow I get to pick up the good drugs. One more night with calamine, Tylenol PM and wearing cotton gloves to bed and tomorrow, hopefully, things will start getting better.
Oh, and unrelatedly - 16 DAYS UNTIL WE GO TO ENGLAND!!!
