I had a dream last night that we moved out of this apartment, but we left almost everything here - we took only one carload full of stuff, and we weren't sure we'd be able to go back for anything else. (And we ended up going back to the house in South Hope which I grew up in - that damned house haunts me.) Just now, as I noticed the date, I remembered why we only could grab the one car full of things in the dream - because they hadn't gotten the last rent check and had rented out the place without telling us.

I definitely delivered the rent last month, but I guess I have some anxiety around that point because something similar happened to us in Boston. We put in our notice that we were going to be moving out, but things took a bit longer than we'd realized, and I should have rescinded the notice, and meanwhile they rented the apartment out to someone else and I tossed the notice from the landlord on the table and let it get buried without reading it because he just slipped it under the door like happened with so much ~~shit~~ information. It's only lucky that Eor cleaned off the table and found the notice before we actually had people coming up with their stuff. And he managed to get us all packed within like a week. The only casualties - I left a load of things in the dishwasher. And at this apartment, I neglected to pay the rent one month and they called me 8 days in and asked if we were planning on moving out, because I shifted our rent to a month-to-month basis after the first year. Yipe! So... No dream analysis needed, I know where this one came from.

I wonder if I should ask to sign another year lease, now. I don't think we'll move for at least a year, and this time of year is good for moving - rents come down a little as the college kids leave, and the weather is good. And it would relieve some stress from my mind, apparently.
