I love the look of the crushed velvet dress with the brown and black bodice, and for shoes, I'd just go with black sandals, that's what I always wear!
But: (this is just me; I must sew and modify everything I own) what kind of top does the black dress have? I am thinking that with the addition of some nice jacquard trim with a medieval pattern, you would not have to wear a bodice at all, and could (A) have more of a medieval look rather than ren, and (B) be much cooler with one less layer of fabric.
And yes, this means I am offering to sew the trim on for you when you get here - just say the word and I'll be at the fabric store this afternoon!
