*is confused* In things I've read they make a distinction between bangs and fringe. I mean, they'll mention them both at the same time as though they were referring to two different things. I'm trying to remember if that was Jane Austen stories or my deportment book. (Which is 1902, I think, and American, so there might well have been some divergence of language already.)
