(8:30AM)
Things are not working out for me, today. That's a terrible thing to say this early. To be more precise, breakfast has proven to be a huge challenge. Long story short, my attempts at cooking have involved multiple stupid mistakes, but I've finally ended up with delicious, if somewhat chunky, cream of potato-and-chicken soup (hooray for baby foods!) and lots and lots of tea. You know it's not good when you have to make more tea to thin out the amount of honey you dumped in. If I'd drunk the lots and lots of tea first maybe it wouldn't have taken me so long to make the soup. I was writing the long story out as I made all my mistakes, but then I thought it might not be amusing to anyone but me.
The negative lessons:
1) Don't try to pour honey from a bottle as big as your head directly into your tea.
2) Cream of potato soup is properly made by boiling and mashing potatoes, then adding way too much milk. NOT by putting parboiled potatoes and milk in a pan and heating.
3) Chewable vitamins dissolve in hot water, NOT in lukewarm tea.
On the plus side:
1) Butter and salt make everything taste better.
2) Baby food can always be added to thicken things and add more protein.
3) Lots and lots of tea makes one much happier. :)
So breakfast is surmounted.
On the schedule for today:
Grocery shopping
Gassing up car
Getting oil changed in car
Recycling
Seeing the Dentist (10:45)
Washing dishes and taking the dishes back to work (which I absconded with because I was too tired to clean them at the end of the night - they're other people's stuff that was left in the kitchen for communal use).
Checking my work email while I'm there to see if the HR person has written back about my Worker's Comp problem, and bugging him in person if he hasn't.
In order not to spam people's f-lists again I think I'll try a policy of posting this private and then editing during the day.

(9:00AM)
FuuuUUCK it hurts so bad to wash the holes out. The dentist gave me a little squirter thing and I'm supposed to use salt water and/or water with mouth wash in it (from what I understand), and this time I eliminated the mouth wash because I thought perhaps that was what was making it hurt so bad, but it still HURTS like a MUTHA and I took my Advil and Tylenol earlyish, but it was either that or just curl up on the couch and cry. I wonder if I'm being overzealous, but I want to make sure they're clean.
Never mind, I think I'll go curl up on the couch and cry 'til the damned meds kick in.
----------------------------------
(11:26AM)
The dentist says there's no dry socket, "nice pink scar tissue there," so that's a relief. But, the hygenist cleaned it again, just to see how clean it was ("very clean") and THAT hurt like a mutha yet again, and even so I was so damned hungry that I decided to come home and eat afterward, and now I'm going to have to go clean it again... it kind of sucks that part of my reaction to pain is to want to eat, it puts me in a bad cycle. It also makes me want to eat more when I eat so that I'll make it through a longer period before I have to clean again. So into my mouth went not only the rest of the soup I had made earlier, but the leftover pakoras (even though they were not at their best after several days) and four peices of the chocolate
mizzmarvel sent, and I still want more. I'm damned hungry, if I let myself start. :( Last night I ate garlic mashed potatoes from Norm's and that got me started on wanting to eat because it was so tasty, so I went on and had a huge bowl of ice-cream, fudge ripple WITH chocolate AND blueberry sauces. I just didn't want to stop eating!
Oh, the hygenist said a Vicodin before bed should easily let me sleep through the night.
(3:55PM)
Can you believe my HR person had already left work at 3:45PM? Office people, sheesh. :P
I've exchanged a few emails with my cousins over the past few days. Di's birthday is New Year's Eve and this will be her 40th (she's just 6 months younger than I) so I don't want to miss it. I may have to go to work the next day on very little sleep, however. :)
