I've been drinking hot water, honey and lemon, cooled with a splash of grape juice.  I'm debating whether to add rum to the mix now that it's evening.  Supposed to be good for a throat, right?  I went to the Dr, (not my usual dr) and explained to her that I hadn't slept much last night because my throat was closing in and I felt as though I couldn't breath, but she couldn't give me anything.  The initial test said it was likely not strep throat, so she said pretty much what one might expect: "It's probably something viral.  Get lots of rest, fluids, gargle with salt water."  I came home and gargled, and later on in the afternoon managed to get some sleep on the couch.

Other than that, I read "Persuasion" (Jane Austen) until my ebook battery was exhausted, which means most of the time between 8:30AM and 3:30PM - I even took it to the Dr.'s office to help me wait.  So, most of seven hours, not too bad for a battery.

The medical practice I go to has just had three new doctors join, all women, and they have big posters in the lobby with pictures of each.  One of them is a full-length shot and she's wearing shorts, and, if I remember correctly, turning her leg as though to show it off.  She'll get all the new patients. ;)

I made myself a pretty decent chicken soup today, using the low-sodium gluten free chicken stock in a box that I bought the other day and a breast of chicken, shaved into quite thin slices while it was still frozen, a carrot, a stick of celery, some leftover rice and potato, a little salt, pepper and paprika.

And now I'm making black mustard chicken...  I hope there'll be enough left over that I can use some in chicken soup tomorrow.

*Hugs* Sounds like you're taking good care of your sickness, anyway!

Mmm, Jane Austen. That always helps!

Yes, being sick is exactly the right sort of time to be reading Jane Austen. It takes so long and so many little events for her story to develope, but if you have time to read for seven hours you can get the overview. I do love her sea captains in this story! Maybe that's the old Romantic Mainer in me. ;) As Eor said the ghosts of sailors walk us home down foggy streets after last call. (http://eor.livejournal.com/188097.html#cutid1)
