I just spent I don't know how long watching the first episode of the Russian "Holmes and Watson" series on YouTube - someone made subtitles for it! (I think that this is the only place it can be found with subtitles. They're not perfect subtitles by any means - whoever did it didn't check back to canon for spellings, and "the speckled band," after translating into Russian and back becomes "the motley ribbon," but it's totally worth it for the looong buildup where Watson first moves into the flat and he at first finds Holmes pretty freaky and spooky.

They don't stick to canon, as the first ep is called "Red on White" and seems to start out kind of like "A Study in Scarlet" and then segue into "The Speckled Band." Don't be put off by the fact that the first part is "1 of 14" - that first episode ends at 7 of 14.
