I don't believe it. Remember I had ordered the Johnny Maxwell Slipcase for my cousin's kids and I was sent only one book of the three? Well, I found another bookseller which had it listed, ordered it again, and received a confirmation notice of the order going through on Dec 28th... and today I received a notice that in fact they had finally discovered that they didn't actually have that item in stock after all and were refunding my money. Ten days to figure out that you don't actually have the item?

Oh, and the hat I ordered for Eor, also on the 28th, has not come and their website doesn't have package tracking to see where it might be.

This is getting a little bizarre.

ETA: The only other U.S. bookseller besides the one who really doesn't have it (but it still listed as having it) is asking $47 for the set. Whereas a U.K. bookseller with a better rating claims to have it for under $12 'like new.' Does that make sense? No. None whatsoever. I'm placing the order.

Oh, bugger. That *is* bizarre, specially that $47 price! I assume that doesn't include packing and delivery. I mean, that's £23.50, and they're only £5.99 each NEW. Humph. Sorry you got messed about.

Have you already placed the order? Was just wondering if it would be cheaper for me to order it and send it to you from the UK (no P&P profit margin with me!), and you could pay me back when you got it...

Notwithstanding all that, though...what a great gift idea! How old are the kids?

Uh, hope you didn't use a credit card. Those banks have been putting all kinds of new fees, rates, and charges on foreign currency transactions. Apparently they weren't getting enough blood with the leaches.

I think the kids are about 9 and 11 years old, now. I haven't really spent tons of time with them, but I've just begun to realize they are the closest thing I have to nephews. I mean, I have other cousins who have kids, but I wasn't particularly close with those cousins when we were kids as I was with Di, who's five months younger than me, so we were often put together as playmates when we were kids.

I have placed another order, because I found the UK place that was cheaper ($19something), so we'll see how THAT order goes, bit if it fails too I will consider myself completely cursed and I might take you up on that offer. :)
