If you start with the photo of Leaving New Jersey Penn Station and follow the photo stream through you'll get lots of dull pictures of the desolation of the back yards of the U.S. I have to liken watching the scenery from a train as being similar to looking at a set for a play from backstage - you see all the rough edges where things don't really come together.
The following is my favorite photo of the train trip - random family who was sitting next to us. I just thought they made a great composition...

The baby was a newbie - in fact, I overheard Mom on the phone (and she didn't use the phone a lot) saying, "No, I'm not in the hospital. I decided to go home and get some sleep," so I think she had him possibly the day before she set out. I was really impressed that she would undertake a train trip from New York to Florida the day after giving birth with the baby and a seven(?) year old, sleeping in the seats and all. But her older boy was amazingly quiet, helpful and well-behaved, and would hold and sing to his little brother, or run and fetch things for Mom. I complimented her that she'd done a good job with him.
