Ooh, look - a morning where I don't have a bunch of things clamoring to be done! How novel! My desk is a mess, I still haven't posted a quarter of the England pictures, haven't done a book post in a dog's age, the van needs air in the tires and I still need a haircut - but these things are in second or third place to things concerning housing; Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs has been applying the past few days.

My coworker, Duffy, thought the eviction notice we came back to was probably empty wind; he thinks the law says you have to be at least 30 days in arrears on rent before they can start such proceedings - but I'm not so sure since I think it IS in the lease we signed.

Speaking of Duffy, he did make my day a little easier, yesterday. I've been teaching people for the past few days; just running them through their paces and making sure everyone's comfortable with the format of the testing that's coming up, really, but it's been kicking my ass with people discussing and arguing over points of procedure, and making the same mistakes over and over no matter how many times you explain something and, um, being people. And then of course it's just me, so I have to beg the students' indulgence to get a drink of water or go to the bathroom, and I take a break at the mercy of when the teams on the floor can't spare anyone to study with me.

Yesterday I had a very difficult student - everyone dreads working with this guy because he can't remember anything and he clings like a limpet to the few things he thinks he remembers right and argues them vehemently no matter how trivial. (Literally: "You ask them to turn their toe out?? Are you sure?? I don't think it actually says that!" *deep breath* "Yes. It does. Would you like me to play the video for you?") Duffy by chance was the other student at that moment. He's a mentor and really quite good - I don't just say that because I mentored him back in the day; everyone agrees :) - and we sort of knocked this guy back and forth between us. :) I think Student ended up learning a few things, though possibly one of them was not to mess around with us when we're tag teaming. ;)

And then training ended early for the day at around 6pm when my Supervisor informed me that I hadn't taken any time to train myself over the past month. That was kind of a nice break at the end of the day, but I felt the tension of knowing that the Manager wants me to work with as many people as possible.

Anyway. Hm. I'm cranky. Maybe I should have food and reconsider before posting this. Nah. ETA Yeah, upon further consideration, I edited.

Also, this apartment smells ridiculously of cooking gas. I'll be so glad to be out of here and relieved of the worry that my brain cells are being killed in my sleep by insufficient oxygen.
