Augh, I keep saying I'm going to make a post about this weekend and how much fun it was to hang around with Aunt S and Cousin S, and I keep feeling as though I don't have time to do it justice.

Short version: Memorial service for Cousin S's father was quite nice, with Air Force ceremony and lots of food at the reception, after. (Which I didn't eat much of.) I had left my camera in my car back at Aunt BJ's and therefore did not take pictures, but retrieved it later and went back to spend more time with Cousin S. We went to her other grandmother's place where she was staying so she could change and then went to Lincolnville Beach with Aunt S. Supposedly other people were going to show up, but they didn't so we got tired of waiting and went to Camden to wander around the shops.

Sunday, Aunt S and I decided we had to go find one of our ancestor's graves, and spontaneously decided to stop at her friend's house which is next to that cemetery. The friend wasn't home, but her husband who is a potter and bronze caster was home, and he gave us a tour of his shop.

He does the mermaids for the Rockland Lobster Festival:

Isn't the dragon with the big eyes adorable? The one who's eyes haven't been put in yet is a little creepy. The eyes are hand made by a glassblower he knows.

That's all I can stand to post at the moment - Flickr is being really slow, I think because they're trying to get me to upgrade. Not the way to impress me, Flickr.

Now I really should do a million things in the last hour before leaving for work. Including calling Aunt S to see when she's coming to visit!

Wow, lovely dragons. The weather look great too. Oh, I hope we have nice weather this summer.

Yeah.. the eyeless dragon looks like he's had them gouged out or something...yeck. The other one is too cute! Was that potter in Camden? If so I totally need to get a dragon if we visit Alex's cousin there.

It's called Camden Pottery, but it's actually in Rockland, now. If you know your way around I might be able to direct you there. Do you know where Route 17 goes by Chickawakee Lake?

It's been nice for a few days, with only a little rain in the afternoons or evenings - much more seasonable for around here - but people are feeling so scarred by the long rainy, cold spell that everyone seems to feel that each sunny day might be the last.

That gorgeous day Cousin S was just about comfortable, because she's been living in Oklahoma for years, and in the evening when it got overcast she got quite chilled. But she still laughs at the people in Oklahoma for closing school if there's a dusting of snow. She WAS raised in Maine, so she's going "Snow? That's not snow. That's not even worth putting chains on your tires. We'd just drive through that in Maine." :)

(Er, sorry, can you tell I kind of adore her? Completely unreasonably considering that in reality our entire previous relationship was really a few HOURS. She was adopted at possibly as old as ten years old.)

Not a clue! I've only ever driven to Dervie's old apartment, her parents' house or the place where the Highland Games is held. Other than that I am clueless with the Maine geography. If we ever visit Sue & Bob I'll email you.
