Got the news, yesterday, that the railroad says we have pavement and trees on their property, and that these things had to be gone by today. We thought that meant they were cutting our arbour vitae down, today, but I've been watching all day and no sign of them. The new commuter rail travels a LOT faster, and I understand that having these bushes next to the tracks blocks their view of cars that might be trying to cut across under the bar - that makes sense to me, I don't blame them for wanting to cut them back. But I don't know how far they're going to take it, given they've also put orange ribbons on some of our raspberries, and the lilacs and chestnut tree which we bought are clearly planted on their right of way. Though the lilacs and chestnut are far from the corner, not blocking the view of cars, so I don't think they'll cut them. I did go out and uproot a couple of small trees and bushes that were less important to me, hoping that they would feel as though the area was open and not in danger of growing up too much. The trees just a little further down, in the middle of the block, are much further out into their property than our lilacs.

Regarding the pavement (our parking lot/driveway) we either need to get rid of some of our pavement or mark it clearly 'no parking.' We had been planning/hoping to mark it 'no parking' for a while, anyway, because it's very inconvenient when people park there. Most recently the railroad line crew have been putting their trucks there, very in our way. Eor thinks their aerial views must be showing their own trucks and they are assuming those are our vehicles. I'm not sure what to do, though. I wonder if I should have gone and bought yellow paint and stencils, today.
