I was invited to breakfast for Friday. Alice extended the invitation probably two weeks ago, after TF (I don't know if I ever picked a nick for her, although I've been working with her for most of ten years) decided they would change the breakfast time so that I could attend. Now TF is off picking up the debris of Sandy, and I know Alice tends not to like to come into town on Fridays, and I don't know if anyone else is going and I'm feeling like I might end up having breakfast all by myself.

But what would I do if I hadn't been invited? I'd probably have taken myself out for breakfast, since I haven't in a while. I don't mind going out to breakfast by myself. So there's not a great deal of difference between doing that in Freeport or driving to South Portland for it. If nobody else shows up I'll read, maybe write a little, there's nothing wrong with that.

Of course I looked up the address of the restaurant yesterday, and keep looking back at it.

Ah, just go for it - it's an adventure! If Alice turns up, great, if not - you don't know who else you might get in to conversation with, and if no strangers passes the time of day with you, then well, you have to eat breakfast anyway... There's nothing to lose, is there?
