I last posted on the 13th.
The 14th my schedule (and Moose's) was rearranged to send us to Bangor to stay at a hotel overnight so we could attend a class the next day. I was kind of excited to be able to sleep in air conditioning for like ten hours, since it's been so hard to get a good night's rest with the heat, lately, but then I pretty much short-circuited my plan by A) deciding the air conditioner was too loud and turning it off and B) watching a terrible Batman movie (Dark Knight) until 10pm. Gory, with lots of explosions, yet also somehow it managed to be boring. :P
Funniest moment, though - pulling out of the parking lot at work in Portland at the beginning of our trip (Moose driving) my cellphone rings. Nobody ever calls me, and I was staring at the number not able to place what the area code was, but finally decided to answer it. It was Looks to Alaska, and she was, at that moment, on a bus coming from Bangor. Some friend of hers had bought her a ticket to Maine and she had, in a sleep-deprived state, managed to get on the wrong bus. Eor picked her up in Portland, even though his van did not have a proper muffler and was not running happily - he is a prince, that man, I swear - and so I've been hanging with her in the later evenings.
The trainer for the class was very good, and I tried to pick up some pointers, but I could never do that super-energized-happy come-on. "Now I'm going to warn you that for some of you this might not be the place you want to be, because we're going to have FUN! If anyone doesn't want to have fun you should leave now!" I might have made a face that looked a lot like Grumpy Cat at that point. ;) I debated jumping up and saying, "I'm outta here!" but decided she didn't know me well enough for that to necessarily come across as amusing to her. :)
