It's a work in progress. When we're done it will hopefully be a garden, and look much better, but there's some nasty stages in between.

ETA: Perhaps I should clarify - that green is NOT a reflection of the trees. The filtration system didn't work at all, and shock treatment just killed the poor frogs who kept jumping in. Not to mention even if frogs weren't jumping in, mice kept trying to drink from it and drowning. It was a death pit of despair. Also, when it's filled we will have a space for a garden. So, filling is starting...

The white stuff? SNOW. The black? Ash from the roses and grapevine we burned last fall. We're going to get gravel delivered very soon after May 15, when the roads are deemed safe for heavy loads, but until then we're filling with pretty much anything we think won't hurt us. Extra clay we've dug out of the hillside out back, pakisandra we're removing from the lawn, broken bricks we've found from a chimney that was taken out years ago are going in, etc. (Snow doesn't count, though.)
