I've been trying to help some of my coworkers pass a test - all they have to do is be able to follow an 8-step flow chart in 40 seconds or so or they lose their jobs, no pressure or anything - and I've been getting some interesting responses from people. One guy, after I'd put in a couple of hours with him trying desperately to get him to do it the way he should (It's a flow chart - just answer the questions it asks. No, don't make up other questions, don't skip steps, don't start in the middle... just answer THE QUESTIONS IT ASKS.) until I feel as though I should be having eye twitches, and then when he didn't realize I was in the room he told Moose "I'm glad your back, that [Derien] is a kook."

My response might be described as a bark of laughter. It certainly startled him.

He tried to play it off with,"You know I'd never say anything that I wouldn't say to your face."

I looked straight at him and grinned and actually meant it when I responded, "I don't give a shit what you think about me. It's my job to kick you until you pass your test. That's my job."

Whatevs. :)

Oh that takes me back.... The Army Battlefield First Aid Drills (BFAD) is precisely this scenario: Read the flow-chart and do precisely what it says. Starting at Step One and working through it till you're done.

I don't get what's so damn hard about Step 1, Step 2, Step 3, is Step 4 necessary and if not go straight to Step 5...
