Apparently I miss The Hhumble Farmer when he's 'off the air' (he's driving to Florida and not posting on FaceBook the past few days) because I took the time to line up two posts on Facebook somewhat, though not exactly, like this...
The money IS there to take care of our homeless - it actually costs less to put them in housing. And then help them get work, and pretty quickly you've got a contributing member of society, again. "...$19,208 on average per year to care for a chronically homeless person, including related health and jail costs. ... to house and provide a case worker for the same person costs the state about $7,800."
(and then I posted the following with the illustration of The Good Samaritan which has been going around.)
Now I told you that story to tell you this one... Take a good, close look at who wants to tell you that it's us or them, that we have to take care of our own before we help others. Those are the same people who would tell you we can't afford to take care of our own, which is patently a lie. Why do they want to drive wedges and keep people dependent when they need not be? Who benefits from keeping us all scared of scarcity or 'foreigners'? Being kept fearful keeps people in line. It keeps you from making a fuss when you think you're not getting paid enough, or you're being poorly treated - because if you lose that job you could be out on the street.
I had better shut up now, before someone comes for me and makes me wear a badge to show what kind of person I am, so that nobody will mistake my heritage and culture and treat me like a human. ;)

Crap, I didn't post this last night. I made like two more posts on facebook and changed my profile pic to me wearing a headscarf. It had to be done. Last night.
