I feel kind of stupid. We've been being plagued by black flies every time we step outside to do yard work, but it took doing a google on 'repel black flies' to be reminded that we DO have bug veils. They were packed away in our hiking stuff, and I hadn't thought of them. It would not be convenient to wear them while you're pulling roses, because the roses would rip them full of holes, but they're fine for hanging out washing.

And while I was hanging out washing, two new cow neighbors wandered up to the fence and mooed at me. "Why are you not feeding us, two-legs?" Actually, one was a restless mooer, the other was a follower. David, the youngest cow farmer around here, recently ripped out a lot of the wild rose which was on the other side of the fence beyond our septic field so that he could repair said fence, and has begun moving the cows into their summer pasture, so these two may be lonely, their buddies not yet having moved, and they're investigating their new space.

I'm not sure it makes much sense to be hanging the washing out, today. It's supposed to rain around 2pm, but I would not be surprised if the rain doesn't know that and came ahead of schedule.

Does anyone want me to send them some of my kefir grains? My gem has grown so large that it's breaking up.

I read an article today (which was probably five years old) that argued against boosting the immune system because the result can be things like auto-immune disease and Crohn's, and arguing against yogurt and kefir on this basis. Now, there's a certain logical-sounding lure to the idea that your immune system can get too 'boosted' and start attacking your own body, but... I've never heard it claimed that kefir boosted the immune system. The digestive system, yes. And Crohn's also attacks the digestive system, but is it an immune system problem? I'm a large grain of salt girl, I think.
