Eor has shifted me back to a Windows computer because he built (is building? I'm not sure he's quite happy with the build yet, though it's usable) me a new computer to play online games on. My Nuk had been making awful noises for a while, probably an overheating issue. For his own self he had set it up so he could run Windows on his Nuk, so when we wanted to play Monday night... his Nuk completely shit the bed. His hadn't been making noises, but had apparently been off there in the corner toasting itself quietly. This is a pretty big deal for him because he had a nice collection of e-books on it, so now he's got to figure out if he can salvage them or not. I suspect the answer is going to be not. I do think that the Kobo site is going to have a record of things he's bought, but I think there were also a lot of things he'd chosen from Project Gutenberg, and possibly other places one can get free books (Internet Archive, perhaps?). And of course he lost all his Diablo II characters and saved games. Which might mean that when he gets back in we'll need to start a new game. That's okay, I could do with a little more time on easy levels to rebuild gaming skills. I am constantly missing things I'm trying to click on - honestly, if I hit anything it's by accident, but thankfully I sort of feel like a barbarian plays itself. I think it's programmed to hit anything it runs into.

I have formed a bad habit of watching at least one clip of "The Late Show" while I'm eating breakfast. The bad part of this habit is that I often actually watch two clips, which is much longer than I should be devoting to eating breakfast. If I could keep it down to one, just the monologue, I'd feel okay about it. My favorite bit in last night's monologue was where he's talking about leaders of other countries going to Kyev to support Ukraine (before he worked his way around to that fact they actually had to take the train). "Honey, which shirt goes best with my black flak jacket? And do we have any travel-size molotov cocktails? They have to be under three ounces."

My first thought on that: He forgot to say they also all have to fit in one quart-sized bag. And my next thought was that I'm very glad that the people who are causing problems on planes right now are middle-aged to older white guys, who don't watch Colbert because they've gotten too radicalized to the right. ("And the Karens," said Eor. "Don't forget the Karens. They would be really upset to be forgotten.") Oh lord how I wish I could forget Karens.

I'm very excited to be going to visit my brother in Seattle, soon! Aunt Sigh is going with me, and now of course she's bemoaning not having gotten hearing aids to as to be able to hear what the niece, Missy Longshanks, is talking about.
