Wow, I posted another book roundup. It's still raining. We had two days of no rain last week, but it's basically been raining for most of two months. Maine and New Hampshire are under flood watch. I think I may have mentioned that neglect by the management company means all our ditches are backed up because the culverts are crushed in or plugged with debris, so the area around here smells like a swamp. Older houses all have basements and are raised up a little, but this place is on a slab and only inches above the ground level. I don't think we'll flood, but... well. We'll see. :)

I need to go shower and get our passport applications to the post office.

Hm, I'm looking back and it seems I did not post my annual "have returned from Baxter as yet uneaten by bears" post. Weird. We did not get eaten by bears, even though the warning signs seem ever more dire each year. "Do not feed bears! Bears which need to be relocated because of anti-social behavior are far less likely to survive the winter!" The mosquitoes were incredible, and when it would occasionally stop raining for a minute the blackflies, deer flies and horse flies were very hungry. (I wonder why mosquitoes can fly in the rain when the others can't?)
