I just spent at least an hour trying to find pics of Victorian boys/young men to use as inspiration for Swept Away! drawings/photo manips or something, and came up dry. A year or so ago I did a search and found some kind of good stuff (well, some really rather cool stuff, actually, though very little was directly related) and now the Victorian well seems to have run dry, at least as far as what Google's tossing up at me. It's all crappy steampunk fashion (I love steampunk, but most of this is crap that looks fashion industry generated) and the crappier fashion art of the very early Victorian era. And now I is burnt. Early day tomorrow, going to teach new stuff for the first time. Stage fright!

I found that difficult myself when I was looking for mens' Victorian fashions for a drawing I was doing a while back. And that was adults' clothes - I can only imagine how hard it is to find resources of what younger people wore. In the end I bought two of those paper doll books, because the drawings were very clear and it was easy to see the details of the clothing. Then again, those were adult clothes, so it wouldn't help you :( I find drawing clothes the hardest bit about trying to draw charcters.

Good luck.

Actually, I ended up deciding that boys of the age I'm writing about would probably be wearing pretty much scaled down a bit adult clothes.

(Although in Tom's case they're probably scaled up a bit.)
