I'd like to see independence from firecrackers, right now. They're obnoxious and bother the neighborhood dogs. Thankfully they don't seem to be disturbing my poor old diabetic cat too much this year.
Lots of people - probably as many as 7 - were down at the swimming hole today. A cop had to follow us down and harass us because we walked in via the railroad track. Because of the way the track runs there's no good way to get from the pond to the river without going along the track access road - which is wide and feels quite safe. But, whatever.
There was a girl at the swimming hole, not swimming, just hanging around with her dog, and another dog which belong to some kids who may have been her cousins. She was wearing a bikini. She was maybe 14, not someone to scope, I just thought it was great, a good sign, that she felt okay to wear a bikini even though she had a little baby-fat on her lower tummy. She looked good, but many girls would think they didn't. I know I never felt good about my looks when I was her age. I WAS overweight, but I feel better about my looks now and I weigh more than I did then.
