(I'm reposting what I wrote for the Single Freaks [yahoo club], and then I'll add a little more...)

I guess I was a little bummed that, once again, none of my family invited Eor and I over for Thanksgiving. I occationally finagle a sort of round-about invitiation - I call Mom, she's going to my aunt's, she tells me when to show up. But I get really sick of the fact that nobody _actually_ invites me. This year my Mom is in Korea, and my favorite uncle (one of the few people in my family who Eor actually really enjoys spending time with) is in South America. So, I realized rather late that I really wasn't going to get an invitation and that I really had no reason to try to finagle one. It was too late to make plans with friends. But it's definetly not a bad thing to spend the day with each other.

We bought a ham on the way home last night. We slept late, and then got up and leisurly set up the ham (Eor rubbed it with brown sugar) and the potatoes, and now we've just got some time to kill while it cooks. We've got some quiet jazz piano playing quietly in the background, we're catching up on corrospondence to our family (the ones we'd really like to be spending time with) and friends. Maybe I'll even get ambitious this afternoon and try to clean up the front room so we can watch movies. :)

So, it's not what I'd wanted to begin with, but maybe it's not a bad way to spend a day off.:)

For anyone who wonders - the dog who I was trying to find a home for, now has a home.:) I'm going to repost what I wrote to my Uncle, since I'm lazy today.:)

I ended up with her for a week, and totally fell for her - what a great dog, I can see why Mom didn't want to give her up! :( But then my boyfriend and one of my cats were getting so sick, having her around, and I couldn't find another place for her to live, so I ended up taking her to the SPCA. I cried _all_ the way home. In just a week I'd gotten so used to her coming with Eor to pick me up at work, and taking her for walks at night. I LOVE taking a dog for a walk, I really do. And Eor loved playing with her - she was fun! But even with him home all day, and me taking her out night and morning, she wasn't getting as much attention or excercise as she needed, with us. But she got adopted right away! We dropped her off on the 6th, there was a 3 day quarentine, and she was already adopted when I called on the 18th! And the adoption center we took her to is between two higher income towns, so she's probably got a big yard and all, as she needs.
