We had someone come in yesterday who really liked the house a lot, and she's coming back with her boyfriend tomorrow evening so he can take a look. Actually, it makes me feel rather nicer about selling it to think that someone will get it who really _likes_ it. The odd thing was, we had one agent, and she just suddenly, day before yesterday, left the agency, and they gave us another agent, and the new agent seems so much more positive about the place. The first agent had said "The first thing anyone will want to do with this house would be re-do the bathroom." And we were thinking, "But we just spent all that time getting it nice!" Nice old clawfoot tub with a brass shower structure and cloth curtains. This is an old house, and the tub fits with the house. And the new agent said "This place is going to GO!" and "Cute bathroom!"

There's charms as well as drawbacks to old houses. I like the feeling of history - you can see where other people made modifications and left their marks. There's still a two-holer out back (though not in useable shape, now). The people who put this bathroom in were happy to have a warm place to seat their butt, they weren't thinking about shower stalls and jacuzzies. I could see the usefulness of having another half bath, if Matt's in the tub and I want to get hot water to mop the floor. But it's not like that's a problem. I even like the rippling plaster in the room which haven't been done over - I find that much easier on my eyes than an expanse of smooth wallboard.
