It turned out that I DO have strep throat. It's an odd type, doesn't give the white patches on the throat and doesn't threaten the heart. (I had no idea, previously, that strep throat could damage the heart.) They gave me two throat swabs the other day (it's nice working at a health care facility), and the quicky one said it wasn't strep, but the one that takes several days said it was. So I've actually been on these antibiotics for a couple of days, and am feeling much more like myself again. I don't know how long this infection may have actually been with me, I was experiencing mildly sore throats on and off for several months, so I will definetly finish out the course. Someone else told me she had strep and didn't even know she had it (she just had a slightly sore throat) until she woke up with scarlet fever, which usually only developes after you've had strep for a while - I didn't previously know scarlet fever was in any way related to strep! So... you learn something new every day. Or in my case, several new things. So now I know why the Cloroseptic bottle advises getting that sore throat checked out if it persists - scarlet fever and heart damage, yikes.
