I passed the first part of training! :) Now there's On the Job Training for 60 hours. Today we have another orientation to introduce us to this next part of the process. I really felt bad that another woman in my class, who seemed as if she'd be much better than I at the job, in her personality, did _not_ pass the test.:(
I just looked back at my earlier journals. I did end up wearing my khakis, after all. Thankfully, I got to do the laundry on Thursday, so wasn't wearing them straight for too many days without washing. Thursday I had more time during the day - we didn't report to class until 7:30pm, and went on a field trip to the airport so we could see the actual place we'll be working, and the real machines. Oh, and my bag got used to train for physical property inspection - I volunteered it, so I thought there was nothing particularly embarassing in there. I hadn't realized how much _food_ I was carrying. Someone had commented to me that my Mom seems food-obsessed, because she always writes on her journal about going out to eat or what she cooked, but what came out of my little knapsack was _amazing_: no less than _4_ granola bars, a candy bar, an applesauce cup, a mixed fruit cup, two fortune cookies, and a couple of candies. And a spoon, of course. I took no small amount of ribbing.:)
Given the ratio of men to women, I think I'm going to end up doing hand-wanding and patdowns a lot more than anything else. My friend is teasing me that all the lesbians and bi women in Portland are going to be showing up out at the airport to get a full-body patdown... So let me just warn you, you have to actually have a ticket, they won't just let you go do it for fun! If you really want to, you'll have to make an after-hours appointment with me.;)
