[livejournal.com profile] eor's got this new LJ style, and I like it so much, and it allows tags, and ... damn.  I want to use it myself.  But I don't want to be a copycat. :)  And I don't want to be frivolous and inconsistent, tossing out old journal styles.  Of course, he copied my journal style when we first started, only in a different color.  And I am in my fifth year with this journal, and I don't think I've made any changes to the style in all that time.

ETA: There, what do you think? I think the color scheme ("Grays") keeps enough of the feel of the old style.

Edited once again to add:

I have been wondering about these two options on my "Edit Personal Information" page since I first made my journal, and today I played around with them a bit, but I can't see any difference in comments on my or anybody else's journal if they're turned on:

Add &nc=xx to comment URLs
Check this if you want to append the comment count to URLs to make your browser possibly display the links in a different color.

If someone can tell me what they're supposed to do... well, I'm just curious. I've seen that some people can get their comments page to display in the style of their journal, and I can't figure out how to do that (or if I really want to - I don't want to confuse the non-LJ-people who read my journal.)

This is probably why I never finish anything.  I've been working, off and on, on making an icons collection page.  This is entirely so I can link back to it from my LJ info page, and reference icons from one immutable point when I collect something interesting.  I got tired of sticking them into either my graphics subdirectory, or 'oddities', or wherever seemed best on any particular day.  All because I want to tell the story of this one before I stop using it.

Good Omens fans will of course recognize this reference.  For those five of you who are not Good Omens fans... )  To me it's a symbol of my ultimate dorkitude, and my embracing of it.

When we were on vacation in Florida, in November, I was looking for a bathing suit, but I found all the colors and patterns disgusting - I couldn't imagine them on me.  (and of course a basic black bathing suit is far too hot.)  In frustration I said to [livejournal.com profile] eor, "Why can't they have a nice tartan?  Tartan is stylish!"

Thirteen inches of snow - a record for this day of the year, so [livejournal.com profile] eor reports.  He helped push a woman's car out of an intersection on his way home, and [livejournal.com profile] lemondropgirl reports that the girl who lives across the street from her helped her shovel her (lemondropgirl's) driveway, after having done all of her own.  It makes me happy that people do help each other out in situations like that.  It always has.  I remember when my brothers were still in high school (I'm the oldest), going out with them in a snowstorm for the express purpose of looking for people who needed help getting their cars unstuck, just because it felt good.  But then again, we were odd kids, I suppose.

I armed myself with a plastic dustpan, this morning - it worked really well for removing the snow from my car before work, and after work I found it also worked admirably for scraping the windshield on my co-worker's car, and shoveling out behind it.  I left my car in the parking lot at work - it seemed more sensible than driving home and then paying for a parking garage.  Don't know why I've never done this before.  Well, we'll see how it works out.  Tomorrow I have to take the bus over there, dig it out (with the dustpan) and drive to Rockland.  At least that's my present plan.  Eor's worried that the roads are going to be black ice, and he'd rather I didn't go.  I want to go because it's a family party, and there's a good likelihood that an aunt who I really like and haven't seen in ages is going to be there.  (On the other hand there's the drawback of witnessing my other aunt snipe at my Dad - ah, there's nothing like being in the bosom of the family at holiday time.)
