Emboldened by all the comments from you all, and using [livejournal.com profile] holyschist's comment about donating to the ACLU being what Jesus would do, I wrote a letter back to that particular person.  I had intended it to be a quick note, but I ended up rather impassioned.  He responded back with an email which he had obviously taken some time on and thought about, and, and...  wow.  I can't find words.  It was cool.

I'm going to quote his last paragraph, because descriptive words fail me and I might as well let him speak for himself...

[Derien], most people around you, and I include myself here, don't spend much time thinking or trying to understand.  And most seem to lack respect for anyone not in their personal circle.  While at TSA, I saw you struggling with that reality on a number of occasions.  What I learned is that, although I may not agree with an opinion of yours, I always know you will have come by that opinion honestly.

Sometimes unburdening your soul can be really good.
We got a very very cool Hogswatch card from [livejournal.com profile] bravecows! :)  Cute, fierce little critters. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] eor located my copy of "The Sword of Samurai Cat"!  Erm... it was in my bedside table.  So now I'm happily reading about bloodshed and mayhem with lots of fourth-wall breaking. :)

Today stuff in no particular order...

We're working lots.  Especially Eor.  He was an hour and a half late getting home tonight and I was getting very nervous.  He's not used, yet, to the idea of me being here when he gets out of work, I think, or he'd probably have thought to call.  But he was busy, I understand that.  I'll try not to get nervous next time.

I went to the Coastguard Exchange, today, and bought lots of stuff.  It's kind of cool to be able to shop there.  I can't tell if the deals are really as great as people say, but things seem pretty reasonable.  I guess I've been able to shop there for like... two years?  They passed something to allow Homeland Security to be part of the whole military-getting-to-buy-things-for-cut-rate deal.  But I kept forgetting to go find the place.

It's roastingly hot in here, and Eor wants me to try the hot buttered rum mix made last year to see if it kills me before he tries it.

Oh, and we have something like real snow, now.  I had to brush and scrape the car and both the back doors were frozen shut, or in other words it's finally, really, winter.

Two minutes ago I hit the 'post entry' button and walked away from the computer, and immediately thought "Oh yeah, I wanted to post about that!"  Then I came back, found it was hung up on doing the spellcheck, and as soon as I assured it that 'erm' really was a word I canceled that and sat down to write whatever it was I had thought of that I wanted to post about... and it was gone.  Gone.  With the wind whistling through my head.  .  .  .  Oh well.  I'll post, then I'll think of it.
