We got up early to get Eor's van out of the yard and even so he's late for work - it took us an hour. We broke the shovel, broke one of the long scrapers, used up a full bag of rice and eventually had the help of two neighbors to get it the last 10 feet to where the plow had cleared. I hope his drive to work is uneventful, because he doesn't have the last bit of rice, I took it - and subsequently used some to help get one of the neighbors who had helped us out (though probably the main help was the other neighbor pushing).

Now I can't really rest - must go get my own car out of the garage. This won't be near as much of a struggle (*knock wood*); just need to walk down to the garage find a place for it on a street where they've cleared. But my body is starting to hurt, and I'm not the one who's been working every day since Dec. 2 loading and unloading trucks. My poor Eor. :(

I just don't know what to think about this:

Renting Dogs

The first page of the article gives some of the negatives, the second page gives some of the positive points, but over all I think it makes more sense to have more doggy daycare places so your dog doesn't have to be lonely during the day, and more flexible training classes available from the adoption centers that let people take dogs for walks. The animals who live in hotels really shouldn't enter into the discussion - they have a stable home, and probably see most of the same people on a regular basis. But even if these people who rent dogs feel that they have some connection to these animals on the weekend, I gues I just think that if you can't really properly take care of a dog, suck up the lack of dog in your life and be responsible - don't have one. That's what we have to do.

Right, I said I was going to get my car, didn't I? Okay, going now.

Eor just dropped a note - he was, after all that, only seven minutes late. :)
