I just don't know what to think about this:

Renting Dogs

The first page of the article gives some of the negatives, the second page gives some of the positive points, but over all I think it makes more sense to have more doggy daycare places so your dog doesn't have to be lonely during the day, and more flexible training classes available from the adoption centers that let people take dogs for walks. The animals who live in hotels really shouldn't enter into the discussion - they have a stable home, and probably see most of the same people on a regular basis. But even if these people who rent dogs feel that they have some connection to these animals on the weekend, I gues I just think that if you can't really properly take care of a dog, suck up the lack of dog in your life and be responsible - don't have one. That's what we have to do.

Right, I said I was going to get my car, didn't I? Okay, going now.

Eor just dropped a note - he was, after all that, only seven minutes late. :)

I don't like it. It seems like taking animals to be playthings to a new low. No doubt the people using the service have good intentions, but it would seem to me that they don't understand what a dog needs to have a happy life. Obviously the pople running it just want a buck and couldn't care less about the dogs. Bleh.

Yeah... they claim the dogs are all from the shelters and get to run around loose with a bunch of other dogs when they're not renting out, but even if they start with the best of intentions I can't see the company continuing to treat the dogs well and give them a stable 'home' life.
