I just swallowed, all at one go, all the amazingly cool little ficlets that [livejournal.com profile] daegaer's been posting over the past few days, and have no brain to properly compose comments on each. She always comes up with a twist on the story or a way to tell it that's somehow not quite what I would have expected. I think that's the particular genius which always makes me stand in awe.

So, for my part, I've had Lady Grey tea, blueberries swimming in goat's milk, and toast with chashew butter and tayberry preserves for my first breakfast, and that was all so very yummy that it makes me want more, but the point was to get myself moving early and go do all the things I didn't yesterday because the boy at the Chevy dealership neglected to phone me until 10AM to let me know that my window handle was in. I don't know if he just doesn't come in until that time or if he thought that because I was out there only shortly before that the day before that 10am was a suitable time for me to be leaving my house or what, but by then I had to tell him that it really was too late for me to go out.

I don't expect the fabric store to be open this early, but it looks as though we'll have the always delightful company of [livejournal.com profile] littleredhead and [livejournal.com profile] groundctrl with whom to peruse (or, as she said, ravage and plunder) the fabric store tomorrow, so that's okay. :D

I got the window handle, and returned the charger I didn't need, and got more rechargeable batteries, and determined that the fabric store doesn't open on weekdays 'til something like 10am, but is open 9am until 9pm on Saturdays, and that the Full Belly Deli (the best deli in town and right next to the fabric store) is open like 10:30am to 7pm... something like that. I was hoping for coffee at that point. So no shopping for fabrics before work, ever.

I've decided that I'm not good for anything early in the morning. That's just the long and short of it, I am not a morning person. I'm a teensy bit better after eating and having tea and walking around a while, but driving is not the best idea, as I'm far too distractible. Coming up that last steep hill toward home - it's residential, has a tricky corner at the top, and there's construction going on so the road is narrower than usual - I chanced to catch a glimpse of a girl with long, straight blonde hair and the most erect posture, so that her sea-foam green t-shirt hung like a curtain from her shoulders to her butt, where it draped roundly over the top of her khaki shorts and I tore my eyes away and repeated to myself, "Why men die young."

Oh, also, Daddy's Junky Music is open until 9 or 10pm most nights. It had occurred to me to look around for a tambourine to go with my corny gypsy outfit, although I really shouldn't bother unless I really intend to try to learn to dance, which I haven't even started to try to learn. Does anyone have any recommendations for DVDs to learn to bellydance from?*

And that reminds me - I know I saw that there's a bellydance thing going on somewhere on Saturday. Must look that up. Ah, here we go...

$20 general admission. Tickets are on sale now at all Bull Moose & online at stlawrencearts.org. Mirage is one show only, Saturday August 23rd at 8:00 p.m. (doors 7:30) at The St. Lawrence Arts & Community Center, 76 Congress St., Portland. 775-5568.

Not really likely we'd be able to fit this in, I'm thinking.

ETA: Not that I expect to actually be able to bellydance in a bodice, mind you.
