The Orphan Works Act - is this for real? I'm collecting a few links and I'll try to wade through it all, but supposedly the vote on this is going to happen today or tomorrow, and it's a little too confusing (information, misinformation, and how the hell can they possibly work this?) for me to fathom so quickly.

And some possibly alternate takes on the situation:

You can send a complaint to your representative here, but it will identify you as a small business owner in the letter and I could not find a way to edit it, and it will collect your real name and address information. (I can only cross my fingers now that nothing bad comes of me having done this. I try to be careful - it worries me immensely that this issue played on my fears enough to get me to do such a thing - fear mongering smacks of ulterior motives, and I'm sure I just let myself in for a lot more junk mail. But maybe they'll put off the vote until this can be considered more coolly...?):

Fridge dried out, dishes done - it was remarkable how inspired I got to get things done after getting the call back from my manager tell me I was good to go for Friday. Well, before she called I didn't dare get into anything for fear I wouldn't hear the phone. And the clouds have broken for the first time in, what, three days at least? There's blue sky - a little, anyhow - and sunshine outside. :) Even I can be happy to see that after a few days.

There - dental cleaning rescheduled (it was supposed to happen on Friday, but now, obviously, it cannot) and credit card company called regarding not having seen a bill this month - apparently they don't send bills out if you don't use the card.

And I've eaten, I've showered, I just have to pack some lunch (oh my god how can I even contemplate eating again today after how big my breakfast turned out to be? I scrambled the leftover sausage and potatoes with eggs and it was much more food than I had intended) and my uniform, and head out to my pre-op appointment to find out what I'm not supposed to do before surgery and more of what I can expect after. (The sent a letter with some of it, though, and they don't want me to take vitamin C; that surprised me. Maybe it thins the blood.)

Sorry for spamming your flists, I'm just nervous. I distracted myself a little by reading about cashmere goats (changthangi or pashmani goats and the Australian Cashmere Goat). :) Eor always insists that we'll never have goats, and I tease him that if he ever gets sheep (I think he wants Katahdin sheep if we ever get a house and some land) I'll slip in some goats and he won't know the difference. ;)

Oh, I must go!
