Living in Freeport since last Saturday. Had Internet connectivity since ... hm, I think it was two days ago, but I was trying to be good and productive. I started backsliding yesterday morning and am doing even worse today. It's the end of the week, we're both getting tired. Tonight we'll move that last big thing that's been squatting in the old apartment like a troll, the old 1950s console stereo. Tomorrow morning we plan to sleep in (yay! I'm so looking forward to this!), and then go buy ourselves some proper curtains. This condo is first floor, it feels a little exposed. We have curtains that were left behind in the guest bedroom and our bedroom, and in the bathroom one of our old brocade ones that we bought to block out all light back when Eor worked overnights. That has to go, it's far too gloomy in there, and the curtain looks like hell, having been stretched somehow on one side so it hangs all crooked. For the kitchen window over the sink we finally decided last night that we needed to stick up the little white half curtain we used to have in the bathroom in the apartment (it was a third floor apartment, there was no need for anything more than a half curtain), but it's about two inches too long. Still, I wish we'd done it sooner, since all our neighbors walk right by that window, and can see in right through most of our place. Although I've noticed they mostly don't look if I'm standing right there by the window doing dishes. I've been staring right at them as they go by and smiling if they look in my direction.

Early on one guy stopped and chatted with Eor when the sink window was open, but he's from Away. South Western, I guess? He does something with telecom and is a temporary resident as his company will probably move him someplace else soon. Those people from Away are so friendly it makes a Mainer feel a little scared.

Not to say that none of the neighbors have talked with us - the couple in Unit 4 have been friendly, mostly when they've seen us outside. The guy is a musician, I'm not sure what she does. And I think there's only two other people in the building - the guy we bought this place from, who lives directly upstairs, and a woman I haven't yet met who must always use the other door. I think she's the schoolteacher.

Kryptyd! I just looked over and was reminded why I started to make a post - we got your package a few days ago! Thank you!! :D That was very sweet of you! I'll put up the shopping list clip as soon as I can find the perfect place and drive a nail. It's very cute. :) So is the canvas bag (I stood there and went "...READ-iscover..." for a second or two before figuring it out. I was tired, okay? ;)). I can't wait to get started on the book! (First I have to get done with this thing I'm reading "The Power of One." The main character refuses to ever give his real name but I'm sure it's Gary Stew because his life is so incredibly awesome that it's gotten quite boring.)

And Cygny, we got your letter in that same mail - great to hear from you! :)

So you guys tied for first mailings to our new address. :)

I really have to get going, now. I should get down to the old place and do some cleaning before I go to work, but at this point I'm not even sure I'm going to manage that. I'll shower and throw some things in the laundry and the dishwasher... so cool to have those things of our own! No more doing laundry half a day of the weekend!

I also should phone my Dad sometime soon, but I'm not sure if I can face it today. *yawns* Oh man, I've been up three hours and I wish I was back asleep. SO looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning.

Sorry about the length of this with no cut, but I'm using Dreamwidth as if it were a posting client (not proper, I know) and am not sure how to do that and make it work in both Dreamwidth and LiveJournal.
