I really wanted to go back in time and have posted this, so understand that if I had actually posted this it would have been about an hour later, at best.
'This' evening (1/2) FlowingSpring (Tree's Mom*) phoned to catch up and talk about my Dad a little. I had neglected to inform her when Dad died, which was really very awful of me, so she only had just heard through my holiday card. Not just slightly awful of me - this is a woman my Dad proposed to at one time. She turned him down, but she could have been my step-mother. And oh, at the time, how very much I wished she had been. Such an all-round sweet person. I have never heard a mean word from her, and I spent a LOT of time at her house when I was young, I had plenty of opportunity. She was kind of annoyed the time she found I'd put a dead squirrel in her freezer, but she wasn't harsh about it, just made me feel rather ashamed of myself for having tricked her into thinking she had a fish in there because of my having wrapped it in an old newspaper. [I had found it by the road, but I was sure it was very fresh! I just thought I was going to dissect it, later.]
Anyhow, we had a nice, long talk - an hour and a quarter - and by the time I got off the phone I felt almost as though I were sedated. She's so calming. :) And she reiterated an invitation to Eor and I to come visit her and her husband in Canada. We REALLY should.
