Home from the hinterlands of Cape Cod. We think there may have been a showing of our place while we were gone. Completely unrelated (we believe) - our washer and dryer are dead.
You might have noticed that, although I said I was home, I haven't had time to be on the computer. Mostly because my Mom needed to read her email and her newsletters and sustain the fabric of the universe or whatever her role is, but also because of the roller coaster which is our life.
We arrived home to find that it appeared someone had been in to view our place, but no message from our selling agent.
We find out we can't wash our clothes because the dryer won't work. Eor poked around at that and talked it over with Eightball - there seemed to be some things blown out, but replacing fuses didn't help. Power to it, but doesn't work.
Then we find out that two of our neighbors in the same building are having problems with their electric stoves, dryers and air conditioning. Power to them, but not working. All things that work on 220V. Someone heard that a transformer nearby blew, so someone will get hold of CMP tomorrow and ask what's up.
In between we had driven out to dinner and the car was making awful squealing noises. Well, it has been nasty sounding for a while, I was going to ask Eor to listen to it, but now he was really bothered. After getting home from dinner he started by trying to get the right front wheel off, and broke a lug nut. I ended up driving the car to Brunswick with him following me (and Eightball in with me - we discussed whether that unnecessarily put two members of the family in danger at the same time, but went with it), leaving it off at a dealership there, dropping the key in the night slot.
Eightball has to be at the airport at 4am tomorrow, so Eor's going to have to drive us down in the van, then drive back to get himself to work. We might get six hours of sleep. I'll be in three hours early, but I think if I voluntarily work on the Checkpoint they'll be so happy with me that they'll let me go early, too. This is kind of going to suck, though, because there will be no tea for me first thing, as there is no stove.
And we only got four hours of sleep last night, what with me wanting to stay at Hawk's wedding far, far too late, hoping to hear the band play, and dancing with Eightball and our cousin (the first cousin once removed who I sometimes refer to as nephew), CrimsonMouse. He's never heard the band in person, though he knows every song on their CD by heart.
(It was a most lovely, touching, amusing wedding, and I got lots of compliments on my reading, and I hope someone will post some of the videos of funky wedding dancing in available places. :))
So, anyway, yeah. I need sleep, now.
