This whole idea of cleaning the house up for listing so it can be shown while we're away at Hawk's wedding is absolutely insane. We're getting up at 5am to load the van and the car - we're going to be driving down separately so we can have both vehicles - and of course we're going to try to do a few last things, and then set out to find my Mom - who blithely says she can meet us at the Plimouth Plantation at 11:30am, but I have no doubt she had no idea how she was going to get there when she said that. I spent quite a while writing down the Google directions (because I'm not attached to the printer) from here to Plimouth Plantation, from there to Myles Standish campground, from Myles Standish campground to Kingston, for when we pick up Eightball at the train station, from the campground to the grange hall which the rehearsal dinner is supposed to be at. I would rather have added in to that loop the bed and breakfast where Mom and Eightball are supposed to be staying, but Hawk never divulged that information. It's a mystery location.
Have I mentioned today that I love Google maps? I wouldn't have a prayer of doing any of this if I had to get directions from Hawk, I'm sure. ;)
I guess our ridiculous industry, lately, has shamed our neighbors a little. The woman in Unit 2 painted the door to the lobby, and the woman in Unit 4 finished weeding the expanse of crushed rock I was complaining about the other day. :) I overheard Eor saying, "You guys did a nice job on that," to the couple from Unit 4, and her saying, "You guys? I didn't get any help from this guy!" I wonder if she's getting a little tired of her boyfriend's incredible laziness.
As she was waving her hands around demonstrating just how weeding makes you crazy ("I can't believe I missed that! And that!") her long, bright pink nails caught the sun, and I wondered if she'd had to have those redone.
Maybe they're all just realizing that it's going to suck when we're gone. We've heard "We appreciate you," lately.
