Still fewer than 200 COVID-19 cases in Maine. Restaurants are closed to sit-inside business, but since we rarely go in to restaurants I really hadn't noticed. Until I tried to set up a breakfast date with a co-worker and she was like, "Where will we go?" Tonight I ordered pizza from Link's Variety - they do the best gluten free pizza! I love that in a tiny country gas station - and saw that they had taken out their two usual tables and in their stead are two taller tables that give them a place to set orders that have just come out of the kitchen. I paid with a credit card and then found I didn't have a five dollar bill to put in their tips jar, and since I know they are crushed with work at the moment I felt I really should, so I went out and searched my car for money. Didn't find any. So I had to break the rule of paying by credit card if possible, and went back in and bought a lottery ticket so I could break a ten to give them a five. And I was glad I did, because they did a nice job on this pizza, tonight.

I have to note, too, that everyone in line was doing their best to keep the six foot rule. And talking about it a bit, from six feet apart from each other.

Eor has been working from home for the past two weeks, and busting his butt because there was a lot he needed to be doing. For next week he has now been cut down to work four days per week at a 20% pay cut, and I don't know how he'll be able to get all his work done in only four days. My brother, Eightball, in Arizona has been cut down to half hours and half pay. I suppose yoga classes are not 'essential.'

I think I forgot to mention that my brother in Seattle, who is a physician's assistant, has been laid off for the time being because he is also a cancer patient and his supervising doctor thought his immune system would be compromised. Hawk self certifies that he believes his immune system to be fine. He just took a trip to Mexico a few weeks ago and undoubtably ate all the street food he could find, as that's his usual modus operandi. His wife, Minx, is a school teacher, so she's home, as is their five year old girl. Hopefully they're having good family togetherness time. He says they're going on walks together, and bike rides, but they can't go to the playgrounds and they don't touch the crossing buttons at the street corners anymore. Miss Longshanks has a Zoom meeting with some of her friends every morning, hosted by one of the moms, who does some fun activity with them. She started taking harp lessons a few weeks ago - I wonder if she can keep those up with the social distancing requirements.

My Aunt S, who is almost 70 and has asthma, has taken a leave of absense from her job and has been isolating herself in the house which she's supposed to be moving out of.

I have been cut down to working three days per week, but am going to get paid as if I worked five, and encouraged to go home early with pay, so I feel incredibly lucky. And even on the days I do go to work they're cutting out as many as possible to go home early, WITH pay. But this has pretty much destroyed our plans that Hawk and family, Eor, Aunt S. and myself had for getting together at Eightball's place in Arizona in the second week of April. (And I just got my surgery date for my shoulder, which they put in the middle of my May vacation, so this is the year of screwed up vacations.)

So my family is hanging in at the moment, but I am worried about Eor's sister who is a nurse and working in Florida with COVID-19 patients. :(

I was slightly annoyed to see a lot of Massachusetts and New Hampshire license plates when I was driving home, today. All the summer complaints are headed up to camp early. One of my co-workers had voiced the hope that we might have the beaches to ourselves for a couple extra weeks because everyone should be sheltering in place. But if they feel safer here because we currently have fewer than 200 cases, well... they may be.
I saw a couple walking along the roadside, today, and then the DJ was playing all songs themed around being alone, and I started to think that we have a great opportunity here for 'odd couple forced to spend time together by circumstance' romantic comedy with hurt-comfort. They barely know each other but need someone to help them out in case of illness - how can we work this theme?
