[small work rant] As the summer and autumn tourists have mostly cleared out the number of people we have to process each day has dwindled. But so have our ranks - people are going every week, it seems, and the replacements are in the pipeline but have to be trained and all. We don't see any way they're going to be up to speed before the busiest travel days of the year hit us: The dreaded Thanksgiving Rush. The actual day of Thanksgiving is quiet, but the days around it are always a mob scene. And the airlines have no interest in encouraging their passengers to show up early and get into security as soon as they can. If you miss your flight they get to sell you another ticket, they don't have to give you any refund. (Which is probably why they also sometimes send a flight early.) We're going to have such long lines, so many cranky people, and soooo many people missing their flights. I'm tempted to try to start an email campaign to encourage people to get to the airport early if they're traveling around Thanksgiving, but I hate to spam people. Please for the love of [whatever], tell your family and friends that if they're flying out of PWM they should go through security two hours early! [/small work rant]

My guess is that it's still going to be busy. I know it sucks to get inside security and then have to wait a looong long time, but it sucks less than missing the flight because everyone suddenly showes up at the same time wanting to get through and the line goes from 0 to 60 in 15 seconds, you're at the end of it, and 15 minutes later when you get to the front of it you then find out you're a selectee. I say go two hours early, take a book and spend some quality time with a beer scoping the cute Muslim girl who works in the snack bar in the concourse.;)

No, see, it's cool, I would so rather chill with a book forever and ever once I'm through security. I don't like the stress of thinking I'm going to miss my flight. I'm definitely the type of person who's more likely to get there too early.
And, yay, it's an afternoon flight. I hate, hate, hate when they book me on those damn 6 AM flights.
(I think I'm a relatively easy person for the screeners to deal with - except for that one time I didn't take my belt off. But, I always have my laptop out, my jacket off, etc etc etc. I know y'all are just doing your jobs.)

I know you must be easy to deal with - the one time I saw you there you were through so fast I only barely had time to wave.:)

Too bad it's a Saturday afternoon - I'm off on weekends!
