The battery in the smoke detector in the hall/staircase is going dead, so it's beeping about every minute or minute and a half, just a single chirp. Interestingly, the thing I discovered is that this interval is about how long it takes for me to forget what I was thinking about or doing. I said to myself, "I'm not going to be able to comfortably sit and vegitate this morning because that's going to be irritating me, so perhaps I should go to the store and get a new battery. It's probably a nine volt. And while I'm at it I can pick up some of the other things I wanted. Let's see, where's my paper and pen.... Ah, now, conditioner for my hair, yes, that was what I was going to get. And.... what was the other thing?" [chirp!] "Oh, yeah, a nine volt battery." I think I'll also get a battery for my timer, which has been dead for over a year. When it worked it helped me avoid doing those types of things I'm prone to as a distractable person, like boiling the teakettle dry. Which I did again the other day. Cooked the poor thing so it had black stuff all over it. I scrubbed and scrubbed, hoping
eor wouldn't notice when he got home, but it only took him seeing it in daylight once and he spotted it immediately. He's sharp, that boy.
Now... what was I doing?
[chirp!]
Grocery store, right.
