Just making a note to myself to get annoyed at that guy in the White House yet again.

Oh yes, this is not about being kind to people at all. This is about being able to pay so little for work that people who have apartments and families here to support can't afford to take the jobs. If the workers families are in countries where it's cheaper to live, and the workers are willing to live a dozen in a 2-bedroom apartment and send money home, then they can swing it. But if they try to quit that job they're illegal. Fucked.

That in combination with the move to make it so anyone who's making over $22,000/year can be salaried and made to work overtime hours without overtime pay... well, some of my coworkers were saying "they can't do that! we just won't take the jobs!" Um, yeah, right. We do have the option of starving, I guess, because if we don't take the jobs the immigrants will.

And you and I can see this is not the fault of the immigrant, but how much do you want to bet that when push comes to shove it'll be Us and Them, and racial hate-crimes will skyrocket?
