Because it was too late last night to make a real post.
The lyrics are from Suzanne Vega's song "World Before Columbus", from the album Nine Objects of Desire (which is a solidly excellent album).
The pictures are, in the order in which they appear -
I worked overnights when I first moved in with Eor, so that was how he always saw me when he left for work and came home. I think the thing on my pillow is one of his shirts which I wanted so that I could smell him as I fell asleep.
On the steps under the old Million Dollar Bridge in the still chilly part of the spring shortly after we'd first met in person. He gave me a single rosebid and we walked to the bridge to toss it off into the river. And that would be the day we had our first kiss.
What he and my brother Eightball named "Poser Rock" at Fort Williams, because it's not nearly as high up as it appears to be in photos, just gives you a chance to look good. We climbed a fair amount in those days and I was in much better shape than I am now. And that particular day was also fun because we had a beautiful redhead along.:)
At the summit of Mount Lafayette, and my guess is this was the weekend before Memorial Day, so mid-May and still on the chilly side. Lafayette is 5,260 feet, and me not having any concept of such things at the time I had worn my cheap sneakers. We spent the rest of the weekend soaking in a hottub.;) So that's me giving the "oh my god I look like shit - but of course I want you to take a picture, I MADE IT!! - but oh my god I'm beat and I look like hell" expression.
