I have Jeeves books! *squeee!!* I had to go get a package at the post office today (Which is an annoying story involving an incompetent mail carrier who, when I complained that I keep receiving mail for my ex-sister in law who never lived with me, decided to scratch out my name on the mailbox. I registered my disgruntlement with the desk clerk as I was picking up my package, and she gave me the 800 number for complaints. Given that one of my co-workers - ElvenGirl, in fact - was hung up on by their complaints department yesterday and had to call back and talk to their manager, I don't hold out lots of hope for the reduction of my blood pressure through this excercise. However, it was amusing watching ElvenGirl give someone else a piece of her mind, because she's a spitfire, and all of us who work with her have had cause to bear her wrath in the past. But I digress...) and
eor wasn't here to make me wait for Christmas to open the package, so I reasoned that if someone didn't want me to see the contents until Christmas they would have asked for it to be wrapped, I decided to go ahead and open it, and what do I find but "Life With Jeeves" and "Thank You, Jeeves," sent by
eor's oldest sister. Yaaaaayy!! :):)
I'm not reading them, though, until I finish the book I'm currently in: "Motherless Brooklyn" (Johnathan Lethem). I so totally love this book, and hate putting it down. Unfortunately, night before last, I apparently did put it down, and now I can't figure out where. Grr. Anyway, it's about this guy with Tourette's who, with three other guys he grew up with in an orphanage, works for a guy who might be a mafioso... Or might have been, because he gets killed near the beginning of the book. So, it's got humor, murder/revenge, the mystery-story setting with the tough guys and The Dame (the boss's wife), and even tickles my slash fancies - the main character had an uncontrolable compulsion to kiss people when he was a kid, and kissed or tried to kiss each of the guys he works with, now, with varying results.:)
And in sort of related stuff... I forgot to mention on this journal (although I squeed about it on
indeedsir that
lucylou drew me an illustration for The Sleeping Aid! I love it. :) (I also think it could look kind of like Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson in Shanghai Noon, which is kind of cool...)
And in unrelated and definetly unsquee news: Casper the Ghostman tendered his resignation day before yesterday, and Tuesday will be the last time I work with him. *is sad* It's good for him, but I'll miss him. In sort of related to the last few days news, he thinks the stories coming out about TSA abuses are intentional, to ready the public to delete our jobs.
edited to add: if anyone's wondering why I haven't responded to their comments from yesterday, please bear with me. I just can't deal right now.
