The odds and ends.  Just found a ticket that proves I was in Florida at Disney in the end of April, 1983.  And a letter from Jack ("Jock") McKernan when he was a Representative thanking me for my views on the International Fund for Agricultural Developement - only, he had my name on it, but it was addressed to "Mr. D.W. M____."  And a program from when we did "Mame" in high school.  I think I was running spotlight, so my name doesn't appear in the program.  But [livejournal.com profile] rowantree's does!  And several of my step siblings.  And a girl I had a crush on.  There was a rumor she was a lesbian, but I wouldn't have even dared to try to get to know her, even if I could have figured out a way.  I've never been any good at maneuvering to get to know someone, and I was terminally shy.  I was pretty much convinced I was a dork and a loser.  I was starting to come out of that in high school, but every time I looked at her I felt it all over again.  She was playing Vera in "Mame," and a few days ago, when I was doing that huge sorting of old junk until late into the night, I happened to come across the lyrics to Vera and Mame's duet, "Bosom Buddies," where they sing "I'll always be Alice Tokeless, if you'll be Gertrude Stein," and I threw that away as I knew that, with the wonder that is the Internet I would be able to find those lyrics again (yup, they're here), but I wondered if that was intended to imply that Vera and Mame were lovers...?

There's some really good art in this box of papers, and I wish we had put our names on stuff.  I guess we thought we would always remember, when we were handing the paper back and forth and everyone was doing whatever part of the picture they were good at.  [livejournal.com profile] rowantree, some of this stuff is probably your work, and perhaps M's.  Some was definetly P's.  (He goes by Tree, now, BTW, isn't that odd?).

It must be the time of year for cleaning house.  [livejournal.com profile] eor scanning like mad and chucking the old paper out, [livejournal.com profile] noelfigart is giving away a jacket and someone on [livejournal.com profile] ljmaine has monitors she's trying to get rid of.

Ha haha, the "Mame" year. The cute girl who played Vera, that wasn't a redhead with the initials KR (or maybe CR), was it? If so, had I had a clue about what I was feeling, I would have admitted that I had a crush on her too. :-)
