Finished reading "Going Postal" this morning, and went to the Yahoo group "The Mended Drum" to rant a little more about the excessive number of proofreading errors in my copy, but even though the shell of the group comes up, when I hit the link to read messages I get "invalid group". I hope it's just a temporary thing. Holmes Slash comes up fine. Of course now there's
cox_and_co which is all the same people so we really don't need Holmes Slash anymore, but I do refuse to let go of my old ways.
Anyway, I liked "Going Postal" a lot - and I totally loved the nod to The Lone Gunmen - The Smoking GNU. But the proofreading errors were rather distracting - chunks of sentences missing, words swapped. I would like to know if I got a faulty run of the printing or something. I had a hard time stopping myself from marking it up, and then I wondered if I should, and send it back. "Send me a new copy when you get this worked out." It's just wrong to spend beaucoup bucks for a hardcover, because you intend to have it for a while and re-read it, and find it's screwed up like that.
Sorry, I should not be so cranky. I think I need to have my shower and breakfast.
