My Paula-cat has gone on, I can only hope it's to a better life than this. Her body failed her, finally, but her spirit never did, with the consequence that I eventually had to take her for her last trip to the vet's. I'm going to miss her meeting me at the door when I get home from work. I made tacos tonight, and she wasn't under my feet sniffing around for stray cheese crumbs. I may even find myself missing her obnoxious yowling - she had an amazing variety of weird noises with which to wake us from a sound sleep.
I never know what to say.
I never know what to say.

And you are going to miss the yowling... When our Kayleigh died, the house was sooo silent.

My cat's only seven, but my grandma's cat is nearly twenty-one, and I'm afraid she's going to go soon. I'm so sorry.

It's never easy to make that last visit to the vet. Paula had a great life while she was with you, though, and she's purring at you from whererver cats go when their life on earth is done.
I was working on uploading the last of the Paws and Effect archives to paws-and-effect.com, and one of the very first letters we answered was from you regarding Paula's yowling issue.
I've often found that having a little memorial or remembrance can help in getting through the grief. In the meantime, you two certainly have my sympathies and condolences.
