I've been trying to write a story with (*gasp!*) sex in it. I don't normally write sex, and I thought I should try. I have discovered that I don't like to write sex unless it has some point for the story (stupid, I know, since I have no problem reading stories which have gratuitous sex). So, in the first scene there is sex which makes sense in the context of the story, but after that I got interested in writing the story and sex hasn't entered into it again. Just hasn't been any reason for it. I COULD conceivably just add a couple more sex scenes. On the other hand, I could try to go back and rewrite that first scene to take the sex out, which will be really hard to do since some later events depend on things that happen in that scene. Or I could just leave the story with one sex scene near the beginning. I don't think any readers will be happy with that. Anyone got any feedback for me on this?

Or is this just general fiction?

Well in that case...
Sex in the J/W fandom is always hard, I have found, since Wodehouse never takes things to that level in his writing. So long as you concentrate really hard on the character voices, though, it will work. If it really sounds like Bertie and Jeeves (and Gussie) giving their view of sex, then it's great. :)

Be myself, eh? That's good advice. Only I'm just not sure of what the story really wants to be. I'm seriously thinking of doing the trick of saying 'you can skip the next scene if you'd really rather not know the details' or writing two versions of the story.

I think that you should write what you feel is right, and if starting with a steamy sex scene feels right, then go for it! :D
Will you post the story in your lj?

Yes, I probably will, although I may post it friends-only.

*prods you with a Jeeves disapproving finger*
Now write!
