I got a postcard from [livejournal.com profile] mizzmarvel!  It has the most lovely rhinoceros; his armor looks something from a German medieval court, all decorated with little scallops at the edges and circular designs.  Which makes some kind of sense, I guess, because he was drawn by Albrecht Durer.

And she wrote a sweet little Byron/Jeff (from The Babysitters Club series, which I know nothing about, but I love her Byron and Jeff) half-drabble on it. *wiggles delightedly* :)  I'm going to type it out just like it is, with her comment as well...

(50 words exactly, if I do not miscount.)

Absently, Byron counted the number of syllables in his name.  By-ron Jo-seph Pike.  Five.  He paused for a moment, then, on his fingers, counted Jeff's.  Jeff-rey Paul Scha-fer.  Five again.  They matched.

"Together, we make a perfect ten," Byron said aloud.

Jeff smiled.  "You didn't have to tell me that."

(Counting syllables is something I do, possibly because I'm a little OCD.  I made up their middle names to make this work.

Also - I saw flower buds (forsythias - they're just about the earliest blooming wild bush around here, I think) and tiny new leaves yesterday on my way to work!  Spring!  It's not just a rumor!  In fact it was so hot yesterday that I wished I'd had shorts for my walk.  (I saw some pansies that someone had put out a while back - week before last, I think - but it snowed the next day so I suspect they did not survive.)
