Somebody please tell me this is not for real.

For those of you who don't already know it, I'm a huge Dr. Who fan.  Knowing that there are new episodes out there is like knowing there's a new flavor of crack on the street and that you can't get it because your damn local pharmacist is behind the times.  But even if he did catch up you just don't have any more stuff to pawn to afford it.

The other day I got all upset about my inability to watch new Dr. Who, so I went looking for new Who fanfic to assuage my need.  (I knew in my heart that this was not a good idea, because for some reason I never like Dr. Who fanfic.  It's the only fandom I really don't like to read fanfic of, and I can't put my finger on exactly why.)  But the upshot of the little experiment, after suffering a Dr./Rose fic that left me gagging, was that I was exposed to one piece of information which somehow, in all my reading of [livejournal.com profile] daegaer's and [livejournal.com profile] yonmei's squeeings about the new shows, I had managed to not pick up.

It's also possible the fanfic writer was following some kind of alternate universe line that I don't know about and this is not for real, but, but, but... I don't know!

I was so in shock that I had to do a little role playing and talk to myself as Holly to break the truth to myself.

"Where are all the Timelords, Holly?"

"They're dead, Derien."

"Who is?"

"Everybody, Derien."

"What, the Master?"

"Everybody's dead, Derien."

"What, Romana?"

"Everybody's dead, Derien."

"What, the Rani?"

""She's dead, Derien. Everybody's dead. Everybody is dead, Derien!"

Have you read my latest squee? Because what they showed at the end of the trailer for next week is 100% proof that the Doctor is wrong about Something Very Important. And, if he's wrong about that, then maybe . . .

But never forget that people who cut spoilers are sadistic bastards who like to play with our emotions. If it looks as though the Dr. is wrong he's probably not going to turn out to be. On the other hand, if all the viewers believe he never is, he really has to be once in a while... *doesn't know what to think*
