I wanded a woman yesterday who had no elbow. Her arm just sort of hung, from about halfway down. When I asked her to turn her palms up toward the ceiling she did, and her forearm was still dangling. You don't realize how much we need those darned bones. She could use her arm and hand, but it was sort of like a tentacle, and had no resistance to gravity. I tried to concentrate on what I was doing and not show any response, but when she said, "I have no elbow," all I could think of to say was, "Well. That's quite a ... thing."
My OJT for this new protocol (which I can't tell you about or I'd have to kill you, and who knows how many people I'd have to track down - that'd be a big pain in the butt) is signed off and now I get to monitor other people's OJT. Today should be interesting. I get to start that after doing a couple of hours work in the checkpoint with the morning shift. I've been doing that all week - going in two or two and a half hours early, working in the checkpoint, then usually going downstairs for my OJT time. Except for yesterday, because we were so understaffed that they decided to not sign me off because they didn't think we had time to slow down for OJT. And because something got messed up in my paperwork. I got that sorted out last night.
I'm so glad that this is Friday. These eleven hour days are killer. I do have two days off, though. Although, I just got reminded, yesterday, that tomorrow there is an intro bellydance class, and I told someone I'd go to that with her. It's important, though, to not let my mood (and exhaustion) make me change my plans. I planned to go, I will go. I need to keep active.
